PaperCut Popup setup on Mac

October 25, 2017 By Anna Langley 1 Comment

This is for people who use multiple job numbers to pay for their printing.  Unfortunately it’s not in the form of a standard Mac package.

You need to be on a wired or CUED connection:

1.  Open this location in Safari: smb://cued-fs/kace/papercut/pcclient

When it says “Do you want to allow this page to open Finder?”, click “Allow”.  This will open Finder to the right directory on cued-fs

From the finder window, copy the “mac” folder to your desktop.

2.  Open the mac folder on your desktop and double click on “client-local-install”.  The mac will say it’s an application downloaded from the internet.  Click “Open”.

3.  It will pop up a dialogue box, that says “Install PCClient into the Applications Folder?”.  Click “Yes”

4.  You may be asked to authenticate with Teaching System credentials

The popup program is now installed in /Applications/PCClient

If you want it to run when you log in, open System Preferences, then select “Users & Groups”, select their login, and then the “Login Items” tab on the right side of the window.  Click the ‘+’ sign to add a startup program, and select /Applications/PCClient
