If I haven’t posted anything on here in a while it’s because I am currently working with the project teams for the new James Dyson Building and Dyson Design Centre in designing the audio visual systems for the spaces. CUED AV Support will be responsible for the design, procurement, installation and testing of all AV systems present in these new buildings (as well as the new CAPE annexe currently about to land). This is a great opportunity to ensure the requirements and functions of the space in terms of AV are being properly developed within standard guideleines but it’s also quite a challenge with our limited time and resource.
The documentation package for each project currently contains an AV program report (outlining the user needs, rough specification, rough costing and architectural considerations) with architectural mark-up sets for sight-lines, equipment mounts and speaker arrays . Further documentation will include M&E requirements, system block schematics, competitive quote requests and testing/commissioning criteria. A long way from the idea of ‘AV as an afterthought’…thank goodness š
This has sadly put existing AV infrastructure upgradesĀ on the back burner. LR4 is now scheduled for July and a preliminary target of Easter 2016 has been set for LT0. Ho hum!
